Wood Slice Painting

I've found something that's surprisingly super fun... painting on wood slices! I love painting inside the round, organic shapes, and I really feel like it adds something special to my art. It's also my first time working with acrylic paint, so I've got a lot to learn and practice!
Secret Garden | acrylic on wood | June 2016 | $60
Dandelion Bouquet | acrylic on wood | July 2016 | $80

I'm not usually very happy with my work, but I love ❤ ❤ ❤ these so so much! I feel like they're closer to how I really want my work to look! Of course I still want to do digital art, but I'm started to feel like it's time to get a Cintaq tablet. Drawing with just the track pad has been very limiting.

Anyway, I've started a little Etsy shop to try and sell some art, but I'm not sure how I should price anything. Also I think I might recreate these paintings to sell instead of selling the originals, because I get really attached to my personal work.

Let me know if you have any advice for me, pleeeease!

My Top 10 Fun & Cute App Games

(((I actually started this post a few months ago but I never got around to finishing it so here I goooo!)))

A

nyway, I just wanted to share my current favorite app games!

Alpha Bear

Alpha Bear is a really fun word game that's sort of like Scrabble but you're trying to use up all your tiles to create the ALL CONSUMING BEAR. You get to unlock all kinds of cute bears and the art style of this game is really adorable. The really fun part is after each round all of the words you just created are put into a random sentence, sort of like a game of Mad Libs only more random.

Monument Valley

Monument Valley is absolutely amazing. It's beautiful! I was amazed by the puzzles and environment and music and graphics and just how wonderfully unique this game was. I bought it for $4 and played the 10 levels non-stop. I was so sad that it was already over, so I bought the $2 expansion for 8 more additional levels! I already beat those too though... I'm really hoping they will release another expansion. I would buy it right away! This is one game I would say is 100% worth the money! Also, TOTEM FRIEND WILL DIE FOR YOU. Wait, what?

The game also has a pretty big fan base for an app game. There's a Tumblr account full of beautiful fan art! And here's a link is you want to enjoy some great art: http://monumentfriends.tumblr.com/

Two Dots

Two Dots is a very fun connect the dots kind of game, but the farther you get, the more layers you have to get through. Like fire and ice.

Winterbells

Winterbells is a game I just had to get as a long time player of the cute little flash games on Orisinal by Ferry Halim. The Orisinal games are all very cute and simple and relaxing, and they always bring a smile to my face. They usually feature cute little animals too. I would recommend these games to anyone who also suffers from anxiety, as they often help me. A few of the Orisinal games are available on iTunes now (I own them all), but I think Winterbells is my favorite.

Nom Cat

Nom Cat is a fun little simple game where you play as pixel kitties who like to eat fish treats, but must avoid eating bombs. Why someone is throwing bombs in with the treats, I don't know. But the game is very cute and addicting!

The game also gives you the option to earn or buy different cats to play as! I play as a cat that is obviously supposed to be Luna, and a grumpy looking angel kitty. They also have famous cats from the internet available for purchase. That includes Grumpy Cat and a lot of famous cats that I've seen around instagram. (Actually, about 90% of the people I follow on instagram are actually cats...)

The Tower

The Tower reminds me a lot of those impossible games with big prizes that are at arcades some times. You are just trying to build a really tall building by lining up the pieces as they move back an forth. It's a lot of fun though, and I like the graphic style of this one. My boyfriend is actually the one who earned the high score on this one and I just can't beat him!!

Breath

Breath is just an extremely relaxing, simple puzzle game.

Infinity is a puzzle game where you rotate each piece of the puzzle to try an create a continuous shape.

Tsum Tsum

Tsum Tsum has to be one of the cutest games ever. It's a Disney game that originated in Japan where you simply connect Tsums of the same type. You also earn coins that you can use to get a chance present that may contain certain characters. I want Marie from Aristocats so bad but I haven't been able to unlock her after so many tries!!

Stars Path

Stars Path is another really simple and relaxing game, but it's also pretty challenging to get the guy to stay on the path. You get to play as this little shaman wolf guy who makes these cute little puppy noises when he falls off the path.

Fawn Caplet & Valentine's Day

H

ello friends! I hope you all had a happy, chocolatey Valentines Day! (Random thing I learned recently: St. Valentine was not only the Saint of love and happy marriages, but also beekeeping and THE PLAGUE!!)
I wanted to write about this really cute fawn-print caplet my boyfriend bought me from the Etsy shop Sweet Mildred. It was an early Valentine's Day present and it is my favorite thing ever! It's really warm and fluffy and well-made and super adorable. I've gotten so many compliments on it, but no one knows what to call it lol it's been called a poncho and a cape so far!! I think it has a kind of mori girl feel to it. I want to base all of my outfits around it!
Sweet Mildred rating:
Oh and Rick also got me a cute heart shaped tin filled with delicious Dove chocolate truffles and Majora's Mask 3D for Valentines day too! The graphics are absolutely beautiful, especially since I just recently played the original game on N64.

Another cool thing I got to do this weekend was visiting the Art of Video Games exhibit at the Chrysler Museum. There was all kinds of information about the evolution of every video game system. There were even projected video games that you could actually play. It was really fun but we only had about half an hour to look around so we'll have to go back again soon to really look around more and maybe get something fun from the gift shop.
Hi I am Lonk.
Also right now we are finally getting a big snowstorm! It's been really windy with this storm though, so I've been really scared ;_;

My Pastel Christmas

H

i hi!  It's been a while again since I've written anything in this little blog... I just needed to recover from a very tiring second to last semester of college! But I wanted to wish everyone a late MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you had a magical time!

Also, I wanted to share my cute pastel Christmas tree!
I got all of these cute pastel and bubble ornaments on sale at Michael's art supply store for 60% off!
 I also hung up some pink fabric flower garlands, adorable pastel deer ornaments, vintage glass teacup ornaments, snowflakes, and some beautiful glittery birds I found at a thrift store last year. Sadly two thirds of my birds went missing when I moved to my new apartment. So so so sad ;_;
Our Christmas present pile! (ignore the stained carpet. I didn't murder anyone, I am just very very messy with the watercolor paints! ;_;) Josie is the cutest gift!
Josie says "no more photos right meow."

Rick got me so many wonderful presents this year for our 2nd Christmas together! He got me:
  • Pokemon cards
  • a d.i.y. wooden model doll house
  • Totoro hoodie
  • Meow sweater
  • cat pajamas
  • kitty lip balm
  • 20 games on steam
  • Pokemon Saphire on 3ds
  • AN IPAD AIR. My first iPad evar!
So many great gifts! I'm so so happy I could cry wah. I'm just thankful I could spend Christmas together with Rick and all of our families! Oh I also got all kinds of cool photography studio supplies from my parents! I'm excited to learn how to use them!

Let me know how your Christmas went!

Dream #1

I

've decided to start illustrating the dreams that stand out the most to me. I mostly have really terrible nightmares almost every night, but I don't really want to draw those. I'm going to draw the dreams that were the most fascinating, that seemed to have the most meaning, or the ones that have stayed in my mind for the longest time. Here's one from a year or two ago:
In this dream, I was having a picnic in a field where all of the plant life was pink and everything was beautiful but there was a tornado in the background destroying everything. I dream about tornados a lot where I am terrified and trying to find a safe place to hide, but this one was different because I was entirely indifferent to the tornado. I just kept on picnic-ing.

Anyone want to try analyzing this dream? Also I'd love to hear about your dreams.

Spoopy Halloween

H

alloween was so much fun this year! My boyfriend and I went out as a cute black cat and a white cat. I hand hand-made a lot of the stuff and threw together the rest from my closet. We also wore our Necomimi ears that wiggle depending on our emotions apparently.  The ears are super cute and attract a lot of attention, but they are so uncomfortable! They have a clip that attaches to your earlobe that is super pinchy! And the headband seriously left indentions in our skulls! So creepy! But we looked really cute, so it was worth it? My cat was very confused and curious about our tails hehe

We ended up going to Chipotle for their #boorito event where you get $3 dollar boritos for dressing up in a costume. And then we went over to hand out candy to the little kiddies.

Here are some super cute photos of my boyfriend's costume. He even let me put guyliner and whiskers on him!!

awww

Hope you had a very spoopy Halloween too!

Nekocon 16 & my first cosplay

(((Wow it's been so long since I've had the chance to sit down and write in my blog! So much has happened in my life it seems in these past six months. I passed my classes, got an amazing boyfriend, moved to a big, sunny apartment, went on adventures, and so much more. Anyway...)))

L

ast weekend I had the chance to go to Nekocon with my boyfriend; my first real anime convention! (I went to one for a few hours when I was a high schooler with no cosplay or money) It was such an amazing adventure and felt like a mini-vacation from reality!

First of all, getting my cosplay finished on time was pretty stressful and very last minute. I didn't finish until Friday afternoon. But I am so happy with the way it came out! There are a few minor details I may go back and work on, but I really think it's not bad for a first cosplay! And almost everything is hand-made.
The Tuxedo Mask cosplay was also pretty last minute. I had to sew the mask to his eyeglasses! It ended up working really well.
We got stuck in a bit of tunnel traffic on the way to the convention center. But when we finally made it there, it was like entering another world! Everyone wasn't afraid of being themselves. You could be as silly or nerdy as you wanted, and everyone would accept you. It was amazing, and as soon as we walking in, we felt like celebrities! Everyone wanted a photograph of us or with us. I wasn't expecting that at all! Over the course of the weekend, we had our photos taken hundreds of times! I felt a bit awkward and just stood there at first but then started to do fun Sailor Moon poses. I also got so many hugs at the convention!

I saw a lot of amazing cosplays done by other people too. I was especially excited about the Kiki's Delivery Service cosplays and the Once Upon a Time evil queen cosplay. There was also a Slenderman who was particularly good at being creepy and lurking behind us. I didn't want to risk carrying my heavy $2000 camera around so unfortunately I didn't get to take any pictures.
There was even a cosplay photo-shoot! This was so much fun. The photographer said I looked like I was sleeping here, but this photo was one of my favorites.
We hunted down an artist named SwordBrush in the artist's alley after seeing a beautiful commissioned illustration of another cute cosplayer. After a long search, we finally found her. It was pretty expensive, but she was really nice, and made us look so good-looking! haha...
I loved her art style so much that I had to commission her again the next day! This one is in my generic cat girl costume I wore on the final day with our new Nekomimi animatronic brainwave-reading cat ears. Needless to say, both of these will end up framed on my wall!
I ended up buying so many things (and getting lots of gifts hehe). I FINALLY got Alpacasso plushies! They are the most adorable alpacas ever. I've wanted one for so long, and I ended up with two GIANT huggable alpacas.

After the convention ended, I had a bit of post-con depression ha. Everyone was so nice and friendly and fun and accepting at the convention that the return to my normal go to stressful school / go to minimum wage job routine felt really sad. But I am enjoying looking at all of the photographs of Rick and I popping up on the Nekocon tags of social media sites! I really want to thank everyone for making my first convention and cosplay experience such an amazingly magical one!

I think eventually I am going to take some really nice photographs of us in our Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask cosplays. Probably after this stressful semester is over.

(update)

This amazing cosplay video was uploaded by Silverdrop Studios. You can see us from 0:34-0:40.
